Born in Dakar, raised in France and feared in every midfield he played in. Patrick Vieira was the heart of Arsenal's Invincibles.
Why is Vieira on an African list?
He was born in Senegal, though his international football was for France. With them he won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000.
At Arsenal he captained the side that went through the 2003-04 Premier League season unbeaten, and he won three league titles in all at the club. A Serie A title with Inter Milan came later. His career ran from 1993 to 2011 across Cannes, AC Milan, Arsenal, Juventus, Inter and Manchester City.
