Rashidi Yekini scored Nigeria's first ever World Cup goal at USA '94, then grabbed the net and wept. That picture is still one of the best known in the game.
The striker played from 1981 to 2004 for Shooting Stars, Vitória de Setúbal, Olympiacos and FC Zürich. By the time of that goal he had already:
- finished as top scorer at the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations
- been named African Footballer of the Year for 1993
For many years he was also Nigeria's all-time leading scorer. Nobody who saw him with his hands in that net needed telling how much it meant.
