Is Gyan the best striker Ghana has had?
He scored 51 goals for the Black Stars, a national record, and 6 at World Cups, more than any other African player. He scored at three World Cups in a row: 2006, 2010 and 2014.
Yet people bring up a miss first. In the 2010 World Cup quarter-final against Uruguay he stepped up for a penalty and did not score. For many Ghanaians it still hurts more than anything.
His club career ran from 2003 to 2023: Liberty Professionals, Udinese, Rennes, Sunderland, Al Ain, Shanghai and Legon Cities. In the UAE he finished as the league's top scorer.
