Hawa Wanyeche claimed the 2026 Johnnie Walker Uganda Ladies Open title at the Uganda Golf Club on Saturday after a dramatic final round.
The Tanzanian golfer overcame a four-shot deficit to surge past the leaders during a tense finish on the 18th hole.
“The game was not easy. I fought and I thank God for this victory,” a teary Wanyeche said after scoring 228 gross in 54 holes.

Wanyeche secured the trophy by finishing one shot ahead of Keisha Kagoro and Peace Kabasweka, who both posted 229 gross strokes.
The teenager and heavy favourite Kagoro struggled with her putting throughout the day, including a costly bogey on the 17th hole.
Peace Kabasweka also missed her chance at glory after an inexplicable three-putt on the final hole.
While the local pair battled at the front, Wanyeche remained quiet until she birdied the 13th hole to stay in contention.
Much as the gallery was focused on the duel between Kagoro and Kabasweka, the Tanzanian star was quietly closing the gap.
The championship outcome was decided by crucial pars on the 17th and 18th holes that proved priceless for the winner.
