The Uganda Ladies Golf Union on Friday flagged off the national team for the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy in Abuja, Nigeria, naming Keisha Kagoro, Harsshitha Loganathan and Judith Komugisha to represent the country at the November 2-7 championship.
The tournament will be held at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja, the third time Nigeria has hosted the biennial women's amateur team event.
ULGU Lady President Rita Apell Akot said the team's selection reflects a deliberate shift in how Uganda prepares its national representatives.
"Representing Uganda is one of the highest honours we can give our players," Akot said.
Selection for major international competitions is now increasingly linked to participation and performance within the UGU High Performance Programme.
The programme is supported by The R&A and the Uganda Golf Union to identify and develop promising young golfers for regional and continental competition.
Kagoro, 17, is the clearest product of that pathway after winning the Botswana Ladies Open in August with a nine-stroke victory.
She is enrolled at ESCA School Wanderers in South Africa as part of the high-performance setup.
Loganathan from Lugazi Hills Golf and Country Club said she feels honoured representing Uganda for the first time.
"I was surprised by the call up and am looking forward to play for my country," said Harsshitha Loganathan.
ULGU said it continues to work with golf clubs across the country to give national players access to training facilities.
The Union thanked the Uganda Golf Union, clubs, partners, sponsors, coaches, families and the wider golf community.
The team departs this weekend for Abuja ahead of the November 2 opening.
