Ghana midfielder Ronald Donkor has received his first senior Black Stars call-up after Carlos Queiroz named him in the squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The New York Red Bulls star earned his maiden invitation on the back of impressive form in Major League Soccer, where he has become a key man for the American outfit.
Donkor had already turned heads in Ghana after recording two assists in a single match against New England Revolution back in July 2025.
At the time, he admitted he was working towards earning a Black Stars invitation, and that opportunity has now arrived under Queiroz.
The 20-year-old is among five midfielders selected for Ghana’s September assignments, alongside Kwasi Sibo, Caleb Yirenkyi, Augustine Boakye and Ibrahim Sulemana.
The argument doing the rounds in Accra is whether Donkor will get straight into the starting XI or be eased in gradually, given his inexperience at this level.
Donkor could make his senior debut when Ghana open their AFCON qualifying campaign against Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké on September 24.
The Black Stars will then host The Gambia in Accra on September 29 before travelling to Morocco for an international friendly against the Atlas Lions in Tangier on October 4.
