The Ghana Football Association and Carlos Queiroz have mutually agreed to terminate his service agreement as Black Stars head coach following a disastrous start to 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying.
The Portuguese tactician oversaw a 2-1 away defeat to Ivory Coast before suffering a humiliating 4-2 home loss to The Gambia that sparked furious fan protests.
Queiroz had defiantly dismissed resignation calls after the Gambia match, insisting his fate belonged in the boardroom rather than to emotional public pressure.
He pointed to his record as the coach with the most wins in international football, declaring that a solitary upset could not erase a lifetime of accomplishments.
The GFA confirmed the split in a statement on its official website, describing the decision as difficult but reached in a spirit of mutual respect.
Queiroz leaves after a brief, turbulent spell that saw the Black Stars collect zero points from their opening two qualifiers.
The argument doing the rounds in Accra is whether the GFA acted too hastily or whether the structural rot Queiroz warned about requires deeper surgery than a coaching change.
Ghana must now scramble for a replacement before the next international window with their AFCON hopes already hanging by a thread.
