Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put has named a competitive squad for the September-October international window featuring AFCON 2027 qualifiers against Tunisia and Libya plus friendlies against DR Congo.

The Belgian tactician expressed satisfaction with the form fitness and commitment of the summoned players believing they can deliver positive results for the Cranes.

Put confirmed Jordan Obita and Elio Capradossi are sidelined by injury wishing them a speedy recovery.

Captain Khalid Aucho Salim Jamal Uche Ikpeazu John Paul Dembe Bobosi Byaruhanga and Jude Ssemugabi also miss out due to limited playing time or recent injury returns.

Several absentees are without clubs or have just completed transfers while others are regaining match rhythm after long layoffs with limited minutes in recent games.

The coach stressed the door remains open for all omitted players to return to the national team setup.

The argument doing the rounds in Kampala is whether the squad has enough firepower without regulars Aucho and Ikpeazu leading the charge against Tunisia and Libya.

Fixtures & Absentees

  • AFCON 2027 qualifier: Uganda vs Tunisia
  • AFCON 2027 qualifier: Uganda vs Libya
  • Friendlies: Uganda vs DR Congo (two matches)
  • Injured out: Jordan Obita, Elio Capradossi
  • Omitted: Khalid Aucho, Salim Jamal, Uche Ikpeazu, John Paul Dembe, Bobosi Byaruhanga, Jude Ssemugabi
