Mo Salah transfer to Besiktas confirmed, 10m deal

Mohamed Salah has signed a one‑year contract worth €10million for Turkish giants Besiktas after declaring the 2025‑26 campaign his final season at Anfield.

Salah, 34, confirmed he would leave Liverpool in March, sparking a wave of rumours. While Saudi clubs showed keen interest, the Egyptian forward has settled on a European move.

Foot Mercato, via GFFN, reports the deal includes an additional €2 million in bonuses and offers Besiktas an option to extend the agreement by a further year.

Salah’s agent, Ramy Abass, updated fans on X, saying the move “may be known very soon.Cold hearted smile.”

Besiktas aims to finalise the paperwork before Salah’s World Cup commitments with Egypt end.

How does this move affect African football?

Salah’s transfer demonstrates Africa’s growing appeal to top European clubs. The Egyptian striker’s longevity at Liverpool, and now his decision to remain in Europe, raises questions about the future of African stars: will they stay in Europe or return home sooner? beginner’s all.

What to expect from Besiktas with Salah in squad?

Besiktas has labelled the move as a statement of intent for the 2024‑25 season. The club will pair Salah with forwards Jarosław Dembicki and Leandro Trossard to create a lethal frontline. Club officials anticipate the Egyptian will also bring experience to the locker‑room.

The club’s board wants the deal wrapped by next week, which would allow Salah to undergo a medical and sign the contract in the coming days.
