Michael Olise has reportedly demanded a release clause in new contract negotiations with Bayern Munich as Liverpool keep tabs on the French winger for a possible January move.
Spanish outlet Sport claims the 23-year-old wants an exit mechanism inserted into a fresh deal that would allow him to leave the Allianz Arena under specific circumstances.
German publication BILD adds Bayern officials are growing concerned by the player's eagerness to sign an extension only if the clause is included, with the Bavarians keen to extend his current 2029 expiry to 2032.
Liverpool were linked with Olise this summer but opted to sign Bradley Barcola and Victor Munoz to bolster their wide areas instead.
The Reds host Manchester City at Anfield this weekend in a clash that will give Arne Slot a clearer picture of squad needs before the winter window opens.
Elsewhere, Liverpool defender Amara Nallo has returned to Merseyside after his loan at HJK Helsinki was cut short by injury.
The 19-year-old centre-back, who captained the Reds U21 side, made three senior appearances for the Finnish club before heading back for rehabilitation.
HJK confirmed the termination in an official statement, noting Nallo would not regain fitness before the Veikkausliiga season ends in November.
