MMUST, Nondies stunned their opponents in the Driftwood 7s to join KCB Rugby, Uganda 7s, Kabras RFC and Menengai Oilers on round one winners list at Mombasa Sports Club. Recently promoted NYS Spades held Mwamba to a draw.
Kabras RFC big win Kabras RFC made a commanding start to their Driftwood 7s campaign after cruising to a 43–0 victory over Mombasa Rugby in a one-sided encounter at Mombasa Sports Club. Patrick Sabatia opened the scoring for Kabras, touching down to give his side a 5–0 lead after the conversion attempt went wide. Mike Lukusi then added Kabras' second try under the posts following a quick tap, powering through the Mombasa defence. Lukusi converted his own try to extend the lead to 12–0. Rayvon Ambale crossed the whitewash to give Kabras a 17–0 lead before the break. Lukusi completed his brace after producing a brilliant step and step-out to break through the Mombasa defense, with the successful conversion taking Kabras to 24–0. Jackson Siketi added another try following a quick tap after catching the Mombasa defense offside. He finished under the posts as Kabras moved further ahead at 31–0. Kevin Wekesa registered Kabras' sixth try, with the successful conversion extending the advantage to 38–0. Adrian Kwesa completed the scoring for Kabras, sealing a dominant 43–0 victory as the referee brought the match to an end. The result handed Kabras RFC an emphatic opening win, while Mombasa Rugby suffered a heavy defeat on home soil.
Nondescript RFC upset Quins Nondescript RFC opened their Driftwood 7s campaign with a 17–5 victory over Kenya Harlequin RFC in an entertaining encounter. Ronnie Omondi opened the scoring for Nondescript with a try, which was successfully converted to give his side an early 7–0 lead. Nondescript quickly added their second try immediately after the restart, capitalizing on a loose ball to extend their advantage to 12–0. Kenya Harlequin responded with a try to reduce the deficit to 12–5, giving themselves hope of a comeback. However, Kevin Magoro crossed the whitewash to score Nondescript's third try. The conversion attempt went wide, but Nondescript held on to secure a 17–5 win at full time.
Uganda 7s down Blad Uganda 7s made a strong start to their Driftwood 7s campaign after securing a 27–14 victory over KU Black Blad in their opening encounter. Uganda opened the scoring through Otim, who touched down to give his side an early 5–0 lead. Black Blad responded with a try and a successful conversion to take a 7–5 lead, but Uganda regained their advantage before the break with their second try, moving ahead 10–7. Michael Okello then scored Uganda's third try under the posts following a quick tap. He converted his own try to extend the lead to 17–7.
