Kitara FC travel to Cairo International Stadium this weekend needing at least a 2-0 win over Al Ahly to overturn a 1-2 first-leg deficit in the CAF Champions League second preliminary round.
The Hoima side lost at home last weekend as Gaddafi Wahab's opener was cancelled out by an experienced Al Ahly outfit that rested seven regular starters for the trip.
Al Ahly boast 207 wins from 413 CAF matches and 25 continental trophies, making them the most decorated club in African football history.
Kitara's cause is not helped by Al Ahly's midweek Egyptian Premier League clash against Al Qanah potentially leaving the Egyptians sharp rather than fatigued.
The first leg in Hoima exposed the gulf in continental pedigree as Al Ahly controlled tempo and possession to tire their Ugandan opponents.
Kitara will lean on experienced campaigners Murushid Jjuuko, Frank "Zaga" Tumwesigye and goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa to negotiate the hostile Cairo atmosphere.
A Ugandan club has never won away to Al Ahly in Cairo, making Kitara's task arguably the toughest assignment in the country's recent continental history.
The return leg kicks off this weekend with Kitara aiming to become the first Ugandan side to eliminate the Egyptian giants on their own turf.
Kitara's 2024 Confederation Cup exit to Al Hilal Benghazi 6-4 on aggregate remains their only previous continental campaign before this Champions League run.
