KCB Rugby produced a dominant display to beat KCB KOBS 38-8 in the KCB Derby played at KCB Sports Club on Saturday.
The fixture brought together the two sides sponsored by KCB Bank with Blak Blad edging Mean Machine 6-5 in the curtain-raiser.
KCB Rugby used the encounter to give several new faces an opportunity including Fortune Aturo and Randy Wamah.
The former Kenya Cup champions needed just four minutes to break the deadlock with Sheldon Kahi finishing off a line-out maul for a 5-0 lead.
Brian Wahinya converted from a tight angle to make it 7-0 before Emmanuel Opondo raced through to score under the posts.
Wahinya added the conversion for a 14-0 lead before Isaac Njoroge crossed for KCB's third try.
Another maul try before the break stretched the advantage to 21-0 at half-time.
KOBS responded late in the half with Richard Abigaba diving over to give his side five points.
KCB continued their dominance after the restart adding another try to move to 31-5.
Eugene Omondi crossed for the team's sixth try with Wahinya converting to make it 38-5.
KOBS managed a late response through Rasul Abiriga who crossed after a penalty to bring the final score to 38-8.
The victory gave KCB Rugby a strong start to their campaign while providing valuable playing time for several new recruits.
