FUFA formally handed over FUFA Stadium Kadiba to the National Council of Sports (NCS) on 18 August 2026 for redevelopment to prepare the facility for the AFCON 2027 tournament.
This milestone is part of Uganda’s preparations to co-host the continental showpiece alongside Kenya and Tanzania.
The facility will undergo critical upgrades targeting the playing surface, floodlights, and drainage systems.
Minister of State for Sports Hon. Peter Ogwang, who served as the Chief Guest, directed contractors to ensure all works meet CAF standards.
“The contractor, as you do your work, you must be cognisant of the fact that there are standards which are set out for this pitch to qualify to become a training facility,” Ogwang said.
The Minister noted that the government has invested almost Shs3 trillion into the AFCON 2027 infrastructure project.
He emphasized that sport is a major driver for the economy through job creation, tourism, and revenue generation.
FUFA President Hon. Moses Magogo described the handover as a historic moment for the venue.
“It is very historic for us that where talents have been developed, eventually it is becoming a home of football,” Magogo said.
