Mwenge South, Burahya keep Tooro Masaza semi-final race alive

Mwenge South Isaza and Burahya County kept their hopes alive in the fifth edition of the Tooro Kingdom MTN Masaza Tournament with wins on August 7 and August 9.

Mwenge South finished top of Group A after beating Kyaka 1-0 at Madix Playground in Kyenjojo District on Thursday.

This result sets up a semi-final clash against Kitagwenda County, who had already secured qualification from Group B.

Burahya County kept their tournament ambitions alive with a 2-0 victory over Kibale Isaza at Rwamwanja Stadium on Saturday.

The defeat eliminated Kibale from the competition and leaves Burahya waiting for the outcome of the Group C final match.

Burahya will advance as the best loser if Fort Portal beats or draws with Ntoroko at Kanara Playground on August 14.

Who won the MTN Masaza Tournament matches?

Mwenge South secured a 1-0 win over Kyaka, while Burahya County defeated Kibale Isaza 2-0 at Rwamwanja Stadium.

MTN Uganda rewarded standout players with instant Mobile Money prizes following the action at both venues.

Solomon Wafula Mukasa was named Man of the Match for Mwenge South, while Isaac Mawanda earned the same honour for Burahya.

Burahya coach Kaija Solomon attributed the win to disciplined training and lessons learned from an earlier defeat to Kitagwenda Isaza.

MTN Uganda brand ambassador Prime Longino said the tournament provides a platform for young players to develop their football careers.
