Jens Lehmann was a very good goalkeeper who did some very strange things. The German once relieved himself behind the advertising boards in the middle of a match. He threw things. He argued with more or less everyone. At Arsenal they knew him as the Mad German.

A few years earlier he had been sent off in the 2006 Champions League final, which makes his the biggest red card the competition has seen.
His career ran from 1989 to 2010 at Schalke 04, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal and VfB Stuttgart. Then, at 41, he came out of retirement to play one more match for Arsenal.
Lehmann was part of the Invincibles and a top-class keeper. His mind just worked on a different wiring. You never knew whether his next act would be a penalty save, a shouting match or a toilet break behind the goal. Nobody was ever bored.
