Baby Cricket Cranes beat Rwanda U19 by five wickets at Gahanga International Stadium on Friday to claim the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Division 2 title.
Uganda finished the tournament with a perfect record after securing their fifth consecutive victory to clinch the silverware in Kigali.
Rwanda struggled against a disciplined bowling attack and were eventually rolled for just 89 runs in 28.4 overs.
Jackson Asiku was the star boy for the visitors, claiming 4/23 from nine overs to dismantle the host nation's lineup.
Larry Elton Itaagi supported the effort by returning 3/17 from 6.4 overs to keep the pressure high.
Much as Uganda faced early trouble during the chase, they reached the target of 90 in 19.1 overs to seal the win.
Head Coach Grace Mutyagaba said the young outfit must now prepare for Division One as they aim for the World Cup.
“Winning this tournament is just the beginning. We have to go and work and begin preparations for Division One because the ultimate target is winning Division One and going back to the World Cup,” Mutyagaba said.
Player of the Match Jackson Asiku stated that the squad's dream remains playing in the World Cup.
