Ugandan winger Hassan Mubiru will play CAF Confederation Cup group-stage football for the first time after Azam FC thrashed Zanzibar side KMKM SC 7-0 at Azam Complex Stadium on Friday.
The Tanzanian outfit completed a 9-0 aggregate victory in the second preliminary round under coach Florent Ibenge.
Iddy Nado and DR Congo forward Japhte Kitambala each netted twice as Azam led 4-0 at half-time.
Pascal Msindo struck early in the second half to make it 5-0 before Abdul Sopu added a brace to seal the rout.
Mubiru celebrated the milestone on social media writing Alhamudulillah my first time to qualify for caf group stages.
The 2004-born winger joined Azam in the July 2026 transfer window after a breakthrough season at SC Villa.
He previously came through the Express FC academy and spent 18 months at KCCA FC before moving to Villa in 2024.
Mubiru now has the chance to test himself against the continent's top clubs in the group phase.
He shares a name with former Uganda striker Hassan "Figo" Mubiru who featured in the CAF Champions League with Villa last season.
The younger Mubiru is beginning to write his own continental story with the Tanzanian giants.
