Abraiz Mir Ali scored an unbeaten century as the Baby Cricket Cranes crushed Ghana U19 by 175 runs at the IPRC Cricket Oval in Kigali on Tuesday.
This massive victory in the ICC U19 Men’s World Cup Africa Division 2 Qualifier keeps Uganda as the only unbeaten team in the tournament.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Uganda reached 270/8 in their 50 overs thanks to Abraiz's magnificent 107 not out.
Ronald Rubangakene provided some quick cameos, while the star boy Abraiz anchored the innings after the early loss of Samuel Ahaisibwe.
In reply, the Ghanaian side struggled against a disciplined Ugandan bowling attack and were eventually bowled out for just 95 in 41.5 overs.
Richard Sohera was the pick of the bowlers, returning figures of 2/7, while Jackson Asiku claimed 3/28 to dismantle the visitors.
Assistant Head Coach Jonathan Sebanja praised the squad for their all-round performance and their ability to build crucial partnerships.
“Tomorrow, we play Sierra Leone. We embrace the challenge and are not taking any opposition for granted,” Sebanja said.
