Cricket Cranes win opening match in Africa Division 2 qualifier

Uganda's Baby Cricket Cranes secured a crucial five-wicket victory over Nigeria U19 on Sunday at Gahanga B oval in Kigali to kickstart their ICC U19 Men's World Cup Africa Division 2 Qualifier campaign.

Kenya's Kevin Nyambunzi's side posted 176 all out in 45 overs, hoodwinked by Ugandan bowlers Larry Elton Itaagi and Felix Ochan who respectively bagged three wickets each. Kenneth Boniface anchored Nigeria's total with a 97-ball century (9x4, 6x6).

Chasing 177, Uganda recovered from early losses of 6 and 7 to script a steady chase through Samuel Ahaisibwe's 72 off 90 balls. Robert Owilli's 31 (78 balls) and Jackson Asiku's 17* off 14 balls (1x4) anchored the innings before Richard Sohera pumperd a 12-ball duck with four boundaries.
