The 23rd FEASSA Games officially launched at Jamhuri Stadium in Morogoro on Sunday to kick off the regional schools tournament.
Professor Adolf Mkenda, the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, served as the chief guest during the well-attended event held in Tanzania.
Mkenda represented the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba, who was the confirmed chief guest.
“Today, Morogoro is more than a host of the 2026 FEASSA Games. It has become a meeting point of East African youth,” Mkenda remarked.
FEASSA President Justus Mugisha noted that the championship has seen overwhelming progress since its inception 22 years ago.
“From humble beginnings, FEASSSA has grown into the biggest schools tournament in the region, Africa and the entire world,” Mugisha said.
This year's edition features participants across three distinct categories: Secondary (U-19), Primary (U-15), and Special Needs Education (SNEs).
