Hawa Wanyeche won the 2026 Uganda Ladies Open at the famous Uganda Golf Club on Saturday to become the fifth Tanzanian to clinch the title.
Wanyeche, a member of the Tanzania Defence Forces Golf Club, snatched victory from Peace Kabasweka and teenage sensation Keisha Kagoro at the 18th green in dramatic fashion.
The Tanzanian golfer trailed by one stroke before coming up clutch with a simple winning putt on the final hole.
Kabasweka and the teenage Kagoro both surrendered the crown after six-putting on the par-4 hole to allow Wanyeche to seize the 75th edition of the tournament.
This victory adds to a long list of Tanzanian dominance in the tournament, which has seen five wins from the country in the last 13 years.
While Wanyeche secures her maiden silverware, the legendary Alice Kego remains the most successful player in the history of the competition with 12 titles.
