Uganda Rugby Cranes 7s management unveiled a 13-man squad on Thursday for the Africa Men's 7s tournament starting Saturday at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds.
Head coach Allan Otim began preparations in February with over 20 players before trimming the group to the final selection.
The tournament is split into two competitions, meaning Uganda will chase a HSBC Division III ticket without facing continental heavyweights Kenya and South Africa.
The squad carries serious pedigree with three-time African champion Denis Etwau and five two-time winners of the trophy on offer this weekend.
Exciting local talents Allan Olango, Shakim Ssembusi, Daniels Otim and Ivan Bulima earn their first Africa Men's 7s call-ups on home soil.
Roy Kizito and Desire Ayera return to the national set-up after missing recent outings.
All eyes rest on speedster Daniels Otim, who trains and plays for Buffaloes RFC at Kyadondo and could come up clutch.
Uganda open their campaign against Senegal at 1:06 p.m. on Saturday.
