Kitara beat Mogadishu City 2-0 at Hoima City Stadium on Saturday to advance to the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round where they will face Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
Jimmy Kalema opened the scoring in the first half with a rebound finish after his initial effort was parried into his path.
The duo of Kalema and Tumwesigye ensured a comfortable aggregate victory with Tumwesigye doubling the lead in the second half.
Kalema now has three goals across the two legs after his brace in the first leg away from home.
Captain Jasper Aheebwa provided the assist for the second goal with a well-placed header that found Tumwesigye.
Kitara now turn their attention to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League where they visit Express at Hamz Stadium on Thursday.
Elsewhere Vipers face Mauritanian side Nouadhibou on Sunday after a 1-1 draw in the first leg at St Mary's Stadium Kitende.
The argument doing the rounds in Kampala is whether Kitara can replicate this continental form against a relentless Al Ahly side that rarely forgives mistakes.
