A Cricket Uganda delegation led by Acting Chief Executive Officer Evelyn K.B. Shinyekwa and Operations Manager Joshua Mwanja inspected ongoing facility developments at GM Sugar and Jinja SSS on September 22, 2026.
The visits aimed to assess physical progress and strengthen grassroots partnerships for upcoming matches.
At GM Sugar, the ground revealed remarkable progress with five immaculate grass wickets and two concrete wickets supported by a completed drainage system.
The outfield stands at roughly 80 per cent completion with minor turf patching ongoing to ensure full green coverage.
A newly built pavilion features state-of-the-art dressing rooms, dedicated umpires' quarters and a rooftop viewing tier tailored for VIP guests.
Operations Manager Joshua Mwanja said the facility is truly impressive with brilliant practice nets and three top-quality grass wickets alongside two concrete pitches maintained in high readiness.
Discussions with GM Sugar management yielded positive agreements on daily-use terms, tournament scheduling and provision of training mats.
At Jinja SSS, the delegation met institutional leaders including JACC Chairman Nandi Kishore, Head Teacher Mr Balimusangayo Isaac and Board of Governors Chairman Owek Dr Joseph Muvawala.
The delegation reviewed ground improvement projects and mapped strategic steps to align the school's facilities with national standards.
Appreciation tokens including branded Cricket Uganda T-shirts were presented to the school's executive leadership.
Acting CEO Evelyn K.B. Shinyekwa said expanding the footprint requires deliberate hands-on partnerships and top-tier infrastructure.
