C-Care Uganda partnered the 2026 Rotary Cancer Run at Kololo Independence Grounds at the weekend, providing medical cover for thousands of participants in the annual fight against cancer.
Held under the theme "Ggwanga Mujje", the 15th edition brought together survivors, families, healthcare professionals, corporates, Rotarians and members of the public in a powerful show of solidarity.
C-Care's medical teams were on hand throughout the day, offering first aid, emergency response, hydration and post-run wellness checks. The team also pushed the message of regular screening, listening to one's body and seeking early medical attention.
Dr Miriam Mutero Musinga, General Manager of C-Care IHK, said the partnership fits the outfit's drive to strengthen healthcare in Uganda.
"The Rotary Cancer Run is more than a race. It is a call to action. It brings communities together around an issue that affects so many families, while also supporting the infrastructure needed to deliver better cancer care. Our role as a healthcare partner is to contribute our expertise, support participants and, importantly, use this platform to remind Ugandans about the value of prevention, screening and early diagnosis."
What was the 2026 Rotary Cancer Run raising funds for?
The 2026 run set a target of UGX 5 billion and 100,000 runners, with proceeds going towards completing the Cancer Treatment Centre at St Francis Hospital Nsambya.
The new facility will house bunkers for Linear Accelerator (LINAC) machines, bringing advanced radiotherapy to Ugandans who currently face a critical shortage of cancer care infrastructure. The project is part of Rotary's long-term commitment to expanding access to specialised treatment across the country.
How did C-Care Uganda support participants on the ground?
C-Care deployed medical teams at Kololo for first aid, emergency response, hydration and post-run wellness checks, while also using the platform to promote prevention and early diagnosis. Beyond race day, C-Care Uganda has continued to back Rotary's wider cancer awareness efforts, including community medical outreaches aimed at bringing screening closer to Ugandans.
