Amus College School flies Uganda's flag in both the Boys and Girls categories at the 2026 CAF African Schools Football Championship CECAFA qualifiers, which kicked off today in Kigali, Rwanda.
The zonal qualifiers run until 5th September 2026, with eight CECAFA member countries chasing regional honours and a ticket to the continental stage.
The Boys side enters as the defending champions after St. Mary's Kitende won the 2025 edition, and they have been drawn in Group B alongside Somalia, South Sudan and Burundi.
Hosts Rwanda, Kenya, Sudan and Tanzania make up Group A, with the top two sides from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
In the Girls category, Amus College sit in Group A with hosts Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan, while Group B features Tanzania, Sudan, Kenya and Somalia.
Girls' matches will be staged at the FERWAFA Complex ground, with the Boys playing at Kigali Pele Stadium, where the 5th September finals will also be held.
Amus return to the regional stage after featuring in 2022, when the Girls' team finished third in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The winners in each category pocket US$100,000, with runners-up taking US$75,000 and third-placed teams US$50,000 — all earmarked by the Motsepe Foundation for school infrastructure, sports facilities and clean water systems.

Amus College are representing Uganda in both the Boys and Girls categories at the 2026 CECAFA qualifiers in Kigali, with the Boys defending the regional crown won by St. Mary's Kitende in 2025. The winners in each category will represent the CECAFA Zone at the CAF African Schools Football Championship continental stage, and the school will be banking on the experience gained from their 2022 campaign to push deeper this time.
