Uganda Prisons Service (UPS) will showcase its Taekwondo team at the 2026 Inter-Forces Games in Gulu. The event will take place in Northern Uganda’s Gulu city from 30 August to 1 September 2026. Mark Ogwang, Warder III, leads the UPS team alongside Brenda Masendi. Key fighters include international captain Paul Angalla and Charity Bosco Olung.
The team faces strong opposition from Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) and Uganda Police Force (UPF), with joint training shaping the rivalry. Team Prisons aims to defend its badge and prove institutional discipline. Every bout matters for pride and glory.
Taekwondo is one of seven sports at the games. Other disciplines include Karate, Shooting, Football, Netball and Athletics. Uganda Police, UPDF and Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) will compete alongside UPS.
Draws and weigh-ins begin at St. Joseph’s on 30 August from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Combat events follow on 31 August and 1 September.
For UPS, this is more than sport. It’s about legacy, unity and showcasing prison discipline to the nation.
