Uganda’s U-20 Men’s National Team, the Hippos, have been placed in Group B alongside Sudan and Djibouti for the TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations CECAFA 2026 qualifiers.
The draw was conducted on Monday at Kigali Pele Stadium in Rwanda, with nine teams split into three groups for the zonal qualifiers.
Hosts Tanzania headline Group A with Ethiopia and Rwanda, while Group C features South Sudan, Kenya and Burundi.
The qualifiers will run from 15th to 25th September 2026 at the newly renovated Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Uganda, who finished runners-up at the previous CECAFA U-20 qualifiers, began preparations last week with the provisional squad at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru under coach Laryea Kingston.
How do the U-20 AFCON CECAFA qualifiers work?
Nine teams will compete in the group stage, with the winners of each group advancing to the semi-finals alongside the best-ranked second-placed side.
The two finalists will qualify to represent the CECAFA region at the TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations 2026.
