Uganda Cubs launched their AFCON U-17 2027 CECAFA qualifying campaign with an emphatic 8-0 victory over Burundi at Kigali Pele Stadium on Saturday.
Debutant Sebastian Fisher Scott stole the spotlight with a second-half hat-trick after replacing Arnold Kayemba.
Uganda had already built a commanding 4-0 lead by half-time through Kayemba's brace and goals from Arafat Ibanda and Nicholas Kawooya.
Junior Afoyrwoth extended the advantage before Fisher opened his international account with a well-timed header from Afoyrwoth's delivery.
The Partick Thistle forward added a composed finish after controlling Shaldon Ssevume's long ball and rounding the goalkeeper.
Fisher completed his hat-trick by running onto another Ssevume pass and firing home past the Burundi defence.
The Scotland-born striker dedicated his maiden goals to his family and teammates after his father watched from the stands.
Head coach Laryea Kingston welcomed the positive start but urged caution with the tournament still in its early stages.
The Cubs face Ethiopia in their final Group B match on Wednesday targeting top spot and a semi-final place.
