Uganda Cubs opened their CECAFA U17 AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign with an 8-0 demolition of Burundi at Kigali Pele Stadium in Rwanda on Saturday.
Scotland-born striker Sebastian Fisher Scott announced himself with a hat-trick after coming off the bench to steal the headlines.
The 16-year-old qualifies through his Ugandan mother Kate Fisher and joined the squad in August 2026 following eligibility talks led by consultant Segun Jegede.
His brother Oliver, a goalkeeper at Partick Thistle, has already featured for Uganda U20 at the CECAFA U20 qualifiers in Tanzania.
Oliver told reporters the family was honoured by the call-ups and delighted to connect with their maternal roots in Kampala.
Sebastian echoed the sentiment, saying both parents were thrilled the brothers could represent Uganda on the international stage.
Junior Afoyrwoth, Arnold Kayemba, Arafat Ibanda and Nicholas Kawooya completed the scoring as the Cubs dominated proceedings.
Kayemba grabbed a brace while Sebastian's treble underlined the attacking depth at coach Peter Onen's disposal.
The argument doing the rounds in Kampala is whether the Fisher brothers' arrival signals a new FUFA strategy to tap the Scottish diaspora for age-group teams.
Uganda face South Sudan next in Group B as they target a place at the 2027 U17 AFCON.
