Uganda Cranes beat DR Congo 2-0 in friendly

Uganda Cranes beat DR Congo 2-0 in an international friendly at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Friday.

James Bogere opened the scoring in the first half after intercepting a pass from the DR Congo goalkeeper.

Kelvin Boateng Owusu doubled the lead in the second half following a driving run and assist from Abdoulaye Sissako.

The goal marked Boateng's first in Uganda Cranes colours.

Paul Put deployed a back three of Geoffrey Lubangakene, David Akpan Udoh and Gavin Kizito which secured a clean sheet.

The two sides meet again on Monday in a second friendly in South Africa.

Both teams are using the matches to prepare for AFCON 2027 qualifiers in November.

DR Congo top Group E while Uganda lead Group H after a draw with Tunisia and a 1-0 win over Libya.
