Uganda claimed three medals at the Africa AirBadminton Championships on Saturday as the hosts rebounded from a team event exit to secure gold and two bronzes at Aero Beach in Entebbe.
Gladys Mbabazi and Denis Mukasa captured the mixed doubles title to headline the individual campaign for the eight-player squad.
The momentum continued in the triples where Denis Mukasa, Muzafaru Lubega and Bruno Agaba earned bronze in the men's event.
Gladys Mbabazi, Tracy Naluwooza and Olivia Nakajja matched that feat with bronze in the women's triples.
Uganda had earlier finished fourth in their group with zero points during the team phase of the tournament.
Coach William Kabindi said the losses forced the side to return stronger for the individual matches.
He added that plans are underway to spread Air Badminton into schools across the country to widen the talent pool.
The tournament ran from September 16 to 19 with the closing ceremony moved to Sunday due to fading light.
Eleven African nations competed at the lakeside venue where Uganda once won the inaugural edition in Mauritius.
