UCU Lady Canons crush KCCA Leopards for NBL Finals spot

UCU Lady Canons secured a 2026 National Basketball League (NBL) Finals berth after dismantling KCCA Leopards 84-53 on Friday at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.

Matrina Anyango led the charge for the Lady Canons with a sensational double-double, finishing with 27 points and 11 rebounds.

Much as the Leopards started strong with an early 9-0 run, the outfit failed to maintain the momentum against a relentless UCU defence.

UCU suffocated the KCCA offence in the second period, holding them to just eight points to take a 33-27 lead into the break.

The Lady Canons turned the final frame into a blowout to seal a massive 31-point victory and secure their spot in the finals.

They now set up an intriguing seven-game finals series against JT Lady Canons, a matchup featuring several UCU alumni.

While Matrina Anyango shone, Sylvia Nakituuka added 20 points, while Igiraneza Christa Ciella chipped in with 11.

Susan Rebecca Aanyu was the sole bright spot for the Leopards, finishing as their only player in double figures with 21 points.
