Jinja SS stunned defending champions Busoga College Mwiri by four wickets in the morning Super Eight A clash, chasing down 140/5 with an over to spare after Michu Faizo's 36 and Geoffrey Ogola's unbeaten 30.
Mwiri captain Ryan Agaga top-scored with 54 off 52, but the record winners must now beat Lango College on Friday to keep their title defence alive.
Shree Uganda beat Soroti SS by five wickets before dismissing Masaka SS for 124 to win by 22 runs, Shubh Nayee taking three wickets to seal the second semifinal berth.
Ntare School also advanced from Super Eight B, while hosts Nyakasura progressed to the Placement semifinals after edging Ndejje SS by four wickets.
St. John's HS Kauga thrashed Lango College by 94 runs, Olila HS beat GoodHeart SS by four wickets, and Uganda Martyrs College held off Kasese SS by three wickets.
The argument doing the rounds is whether Mwiri's stumble has cracked open a tournament they have owned for years, or whether the tacticians can regroup and weaponise that must-win against Lango.
