SC Villa edged URA 1-0 at Hamz stadium, Nakivubo, on Saturday to pick up their first StarTimes Uganda Premier League win of the season.
Reagan Mpande struck the only goal in the 22nd minute, finishing off a knock-down from Frank Ssebuufu after Ibrahim Kasinde robbed Moses Aliro down the left and delivered a lovely cross.
The Jogoos were the better side in the first half but URA came out fighting after the break, hitting the crossbar twice and being denied by sharp goalkeeping from David Lukwago.
Villa finished the afternoon a man light after Mpagi was shown a second yellow card for a bookable offence, but the Tax Collectors could not find a way through.
It was URA's first defeat of the campaign, leaving the Taxmen sixth on four points, one behind Villa who sit fifth on five.
What next for both sides?
URA host Kitara on September 10, while SC Villa face cross-city rivals Express at Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, a day earlier.
How did Villa hold on with ten men?
Lukwago was the hero after the break, the Villa shot-stopper pulling off the saves that kept URA at bay as the visitors threw everything at the Jogoos in the second half.
