SC Villa beat Police FC 6-1 at Kira Police Arena in Kamwokya on Wednesday to move top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League standings.
Ibrahim Kasinde, John Asiimwe, Patrick Kakande, Jonathan Sausa and Frank Ssebuufu all scored for the Jogoos, with Ssebuufu netting a brace.
Bedia Djuma Ikamba scored the lone consolation goal for Police FC.
Kasinde opened the scoring in the eighth minute after nodding home John Asiimwe’s corner kick.
Asiimwe doubled the lead five minutes later with a calm finish after a defence-splitting pass from Ssebuufu.
On the stroke of halftime, Ssebuufu made it three for SC Villa with a neat touch from close range.
Three minutes after the restart, Patrick Kakande danced past his marker before slotting the ball into the bottom corner.
Ssebuufu then completed his brace with a full-stretch tap-in, directing Kasinde’s sweet cross from the right flank into the net.
Police managed to pull one back with nine minutes remaining when Ikamba curled the ball home after a rebound off the woodwork.
However, two minutes later, Sausa put the icing on the cake, sealing an emphatic victory for the record league champions.
The victory takes SC Villa to the top of the standings with 14 points, while Police remain ninth with seven points from six matches.
The argument doing the rounds in Kampala is whether Police FC’s defensive frailties are a one-off or a systemic issue under their current tactician.
