Bukayo Saka says England still carry the scar of their World Cup semi-final loss to Argentina.
The Three Lions led late before conceding twice in a 2-1 defeat that ended hopes of a first final since 1966.
A 6-4 win over France in the bronze medal match secured a best finish in six decades.
"Obviously, there is still a scar on us when you believed and everyone was so united," Saka said.
England host world champions Spain at Wembley on Saturday in their Nations League opener.
"We are trying to draw a line under it now and focus on the new international season," Saka added.
Meanwhile, Saka backed Arsenal teammate Max Dowman, 16, for a future senior call-up.
"His talent is insane. It's up to him how far he is going to go," Saka said.
England Under-21 manager Lee Carsley agreed but feels staying with the under-19s is best for now.
"He is more than capable of playing in the under-21s," Carsley said.
Carsley wants talks with Dowman and his parents about his pathway.
England face Spain, then three more Nations League games in the next two weeks.
