The Premier League transfer window shuts on Tuesday 1 September at 23:00 BST, and clubs have one final week to fix the gaps their opening fixtures exposed.
Arsenal have already moved smartly, landing Bruno Guimaraes in midfield, Christos Tzolis on the wing and Ezri Konsa at the back, but the Gunners are still chasing a forward and retain a long-standing interest in Julian Alvarez.
Aston Villa, by contrast, are dealing with departures. Ollie Watkins' looming exit to Saudi side Al-Hilal has left Unai Emery's outfit scrambling for a striker, with Nicolas Jackson mooted as a replacement, while a winger and a centre-back are also on the wish list. Villa have opened talks for Club Brugge's Joel Ordonez after bids for Taylor Harwood-Bellis were turned down.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, are simply hoping to survive the final eight days intact, with big clubs circling forward Eli Junior Kroupi and midfielder Alex Scott, both of whom the Cherries insist are not for sale. They are closing in on Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio.

The question doing the rounds in Kampala is whether Arsenal will finally get the elite number nine they have craved, or whether the Gunners walk into another Champions League campaign still short up top.
