Manchester City came from a goal down to open its English Premier League campaign with a 2-1 home win over Bournemouth on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur fell 3-0 at Brentford, where Keane Lewis-Potter, Vitaly Janelt and Michael Kayode all found the net, and Igor Thiago even struck a 55th-minute penalty against the post.

Aston Villa was thrashed 4-0 at Brighton, the game effectively over inside half an hour after goals from Maxim De Cuyper, an own goal by Victor Lindelof and a Jack Hinshelwood brace, before Joao Gomes saw red before the break.
Nottingham Forest lost 1-0 at home to Leeds United as Anton Stach curled in an 88th-minute free kick on Oliver Glasner's debut.
