Premier League clubs have broken their all-time summer transfer record for the second year running, splashing out a staggering £3.46bn.
Deadline day alone accounted for £475m of that total, up from £391m last summer, as the English top flexed its financial muscle yet again.
Iliman Ndiaye's switch from Everton to Manchester City for an initial £60m nudged spending past the previous £3.14bn mark.
Then came the headline act: Enzo Fernandez's move from Chelsea to Manchester City for a joint-British transfer record £125m, confirmed shortly after the window shut.
It was a window that dwarfed the £1.13bn spent just five years ago, underlining why the Premier League remains the world's most attractive destination for talent.
What were the biggest deals this summer?
Three of the 10 most expensive signings in football history went through this window, all of them Premier League arrivals.
City led the way with Fernandez, having already paid £116m for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson earlier in the summer.
Chelsea weren't far behind, splashing £117m on Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.
Liverpool paid an initial £106m, potentially rising to £123m, for PSG and France forward Bradley Barcola.
Tottenham made Sandro Tonali a club-record signing at up to £100m, with Mateus Fernandes (£85m) and Savio (£75m, potentially £85m) also arriving.
Other big-money moves included City's £85.6m capture of Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille, Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal from Newcastle for £75m, and Manchester United landing Cameroon's Carlos Baleba from Brighton for £70m.
How dominant was the Premier League in global spending?
Of the 20 most expensive transfers completed this summer, only six were not to English top-flight clubs.
Newly-promoted Ipswich Town outspent Barcelona, AC Milan, Juventus and reigning European champions PSG combined.
Manchester City's late Fernandez swoop took their summer outlay to a new Premier League record of £458m.
Yan Diomande's move to Real Madrid and Anthony Gordon's switch from Newcastle to Barcelona were the only non-Premier League deals above £60m.
The argument doing the rounds in football circles is whether anyone outside England can even keep up. Five years ago the gap was £2.33bn, and it is widening fast, not closing.
For African fans, the headline is Carlos Baleba's £70m move to Manchester United. The Cameroonian midfielder becomes the continent's marquee Premier League arrival of the window, a fee that would have been unthinkable a decade ago.
