Uganda Cranes captain Denis Onyango lauded his side's fighting spirit after they came from behind to draw with Tunisia at Hammadi Agrebi Stadium in Radès on Thursday.
Tunisia took an early lead through Alaa Arous in the 12th minute before Rogers Mato equalised in the 68th minute to earn Uganda a point on the road.
Onyango said the message in the dressing room was clear that the boys had to fight because they knew they were in difficult territory.
He admitted the team could have done better on the conceded goal but praised the response especially in the second half where they held on to the end.
The skipper described the current squad as a work in progress with several players experiencing their first national team call-ups.
He urged the senior players to encourage and push the newcomers who showed willingness to fight for the flag.
Focus now shifts to the Group H qualifier against Libya scheduled for Tuesday 29 September at Hoima City Stadium.
Onyango called upon fans to turn up in big numbers because it is a new venue for the national team.
Uganda sit in Group H alongside Tunisia, Libya and Botswana in the AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign.
What did Onyango say about the Libya game?
Onyango urged fans to fill Hoima City Stadium for the Libya qualifier on Tuesday because the Cranes have never played there before and need maximum support.
