Liverpool winger Bradley Barcola warned to adapt to Anfield life

Liverpool winger Bradley Barcola has been warned it will take time to settle at Anfield following his £123 million move from Paris Saint-Germain. Arsenal and France icon Thierry Henry said the France international needs to adapt to a new system, language and intensity. He has made five appearances without a goal contribution so far this season. Henry added that Barcola’s finishing needs work but he creates plenty of chances and will improve with time. The former Arsenal star urged patience given the high expectations attached to the price tag. Meanwhile, Real Madrid have declared interest in ex-Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah. The England international joined Bayer Leverkusen for £30m in summer 2025 after interest from Arsenal this summer. Quansah, born in Warrington, has a contract with Leverkusen until 2030. The Gunners had bid £55m for him before pivoting to Aston Villa targets. Barcola’s slow start has sparked debate among Liverpool supporters about whether he justifies the fee. The argument doing the rounds in Kampala is whether patience is warranted or if the winger should be delivering more by now. Some fans point to his pace and one-v-one threat as reason to wait. Others say his lack of goal involvement in five games is worrying for a player of his cost. Liverpool continue their unbeaten start to the 2026/27 Premier League season amid the international break. The Reds addressed their attack in the summer transfer window with Barcola as a key signing. Henry compared the winger’s journey to his own early struggles when adjusting to a new league and language. He believes the switch will come once Barcola feels comfortable speaking English and joking in the dressing room. For now, the focus remains on adaptation rather than immediate impact at Anfield.
