Vipers SC travel to Bukedea Comprehensive School Sports Complex on Thursday to face Kataka FC in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League fixture. The Venoms sit 10th with seven points while the hosts are 17th with two points from five matches.
Denis Lavagne faces intense scrutiny after a frustrating 1-1 draw against Maroons FC at the weekend. The French tactician is under no illusions that anything short of maximum points could cost him his job.
Lavagne is expected to overhaul his system after criticism for fielding five defenders against the Prison Warders. Farouk Miya is widely tipped to return to the starting eleven to provide creativity in a more aggressive setup.
One of the central defenders, Hilary Mukundane, Princewell Tarabina, or Bady Dasylva, will likely drop to the bench to facilitate the tactical shift. On paper, Vipers enter as heavy favourites against a side still hunting their first win.
However, league standings can be deceptive. Kataka proved their resilience by holding SC Villa to a chaotic 1-1 draw and will rely on that same grit on home turf.
Elsewhere, Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo hosts a double-header with Express FC hosting UPDF FC at 4:00 PM before URA FC welcome Entebbe UPPC under the floodlights at 7:00 PM.
The argument doing the rounds in Kampala is whether Lavagne gets another match if Vipers drop points against the league strugglers.
