SC Villa coach Zeljko Kovacevic and Kitara’s Wasswa Bbosa want to use the FUFA Super 8 third place play-off on Tuesday to galvanise their squads ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Villa, the 2025 winners of the competition, were eliminated by NEC 3-1 in the semis while Kitara suffered an early goal against KCCA that saw them miss out on the final.
"I want to give chance to players who didn’t play first and second game so that they have full game in their legs and see who is ready to take place of those in the first XI," Zeljko said.
In that regard, there could be changes for Villa in goal with new signing Hassan Matovu taking over from David Lukwago in goal as well as Raymond Barasa Mangoli, Aslam Ssemakula and Isaac Gumperom starting.
Meanwhile, Bbosa wants to use the game to continue fine tuning his side that officially kicks off the season with a FUFA Super Cup clash against league champions Vipers on Saturday August 22.
"We shall use tomorrow’s game to further organize our team better ahead of the new footballing season," Bbosa said.
Later on the day, KCCA and NEC will contest the final at 7pm with either desperate for a maiden season trophy.
