KCCA continued their recovery from a slow start to the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season with a 2-0 victory over Ntungasaze at Kira Road Police Arena on Tuesday. The Kasasiro Boys moved to fifth place with 10 points, having collected just one point from their opening three matches.
Herbert Achai broke the deadlock in the 37th minute when his free-kick slipped through the hands of Ntungasaze goalkeeper Tonny Atugonza. Substitute Emmanuel Anyama sealed the victory in the 82nd minute, running on to Filbert Obenchan’s lofted pass before firing a low effort across goal to register his second goal of the campaign.
The defeat leaves Ntungasaze third from bottom with three points from six matches. The newly promoted side has managed just one victory in its maiden top-flight campaign.
Elsewhere, BUL dropped their first points of the season after being held to a goalless draw by Lugazi in Najjembe. Despite the setback, the Jinja-based side remains top of the standings with 13 points from five matches, while Lugazi sit 11th with seven points.
- KCCA: 5th place, 10 points from 6 matches
- Ntungasaze: 16th place, 3 points from 6 matches
- BUL: 1st place, 13 points from 5 matches
- Lugazi: 11th place, 7 points from 5 matches
The argument doing the rounds in Kampala is whether KCCA’s resurgence is real or merely a blip before the fixture congestion bites. Ask any Villa supporter and you get one of two answers: either the Kasasiro Boys are genuine top-four contenders, or they are still finding their rhythm under the new tactical setup. The talking point is whether their early struggles were a warning or a false dawn.
KCCA face Express FC in the next Uganda Premier League fixture, while BUL travel to face NEC FC in a top-of-the-table clash that could define the early season narrative.
