KCCA seal FUFA Super 8 title with Mayanja penalty

KCCA seal FUFA Super 8 title with Saidi Mayanja’s penalty at Hamz Stadium on Tuesday. The Venoms end seven-year trophy drought as Mayanja converts a 35th-minute spot-kick. Daniel Shabene fouled NEC’s Yunus Sibira in the box despite protests. NEC forward Richard Basangwa missed a chance to equalise, heading wide from a promising position.

KCCA look to protect their lead after halftime. Anyama creates space for Sibira in the second half, but the shot hits the crossbar. NEC push late, with Enrique Lubwama’s long-range effort saved by Mutwalibu Mugolofa.

Mayanja wins MVP after scoring the decisive goal. Basangwa finishes as top scorer with six goals in the tournament. Mugolofa claims Best Goalkeeper, while NEC earns Fair Play award.

KCCA’s last major trophy came in 2019 CECAFA Cup. Legendary coach Mike Mutebi left in 2021. His departure marked a shift in the club’s fortunes.
