Vipers SC captain Milton Karisa has declared the Venoms ready to collect maximum points as the 2026/27 StarTimes Uganda Premier League kicks off today against Entebbe UPPC at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

The Uganda Cranes winger, speaking ahead of the season opener, said the Kitende outfit have done the work in pre-season and are itching to translate it into results.

"Finally, we are starting the league, and the coaches have prepared us well. We have worked together smoothly in the previous games," Karisa told reporters at the pre-match press conference.

He was clear that pressure comes with the armband at a club of Vipers' stature, and that he welcomes it rather than dreads it.

"We are all ready to start the season on a high and collect maximum points. I believe there is always pressure, and at Vipers, we are used to it," the skipper added.

"We are professional footballers, so we have to be ready to work despite the pressure. I don't think it will affect us."

Karisa also struck a forward-looking note, the kind Ugandan captains reach for when the new term is hours away.

"We shall try and give our best to see that we collect maximum points. It's upon us to deliver, and I am glad we are pushed to deliver at the highest of levels."

How do Vipers open the 2026/27 UPL?

Vipers SC face Entebbe UPPC at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo on the opening day of the 2026/27 StarTimes Uganda Premier League, with kick-off on Friday.

The talking point doing the rounds among the Venoms faithful is simply whether all that pre-season talk will hold up once the whistle goes. Karisa has been around long enough to know pre-season promises are cheap; opening-day points are what matter.
