Full-Time Result: IUEA 2-1 Bishop Stuart University (BSU)

International University of East Africa (IUEA) secured a 2-1 victory over Bishop Stuart University (BSU) in a closely contested Pepsi University Football League match played on Tuesday at Kansanga.

IUEA made a fast start, taking the lead just two minutes into the game through Mubiru Paul, who finished Primo Iwroth’s cross inside the penalty area.

Bishop Stuart responded by trying to settle into the match and dictate the tempo, but the hosts remained dangerous on the counter-attack.

The visitors came close to equalising in the sixth minute when Hilary Atuhe tested IUEA goalkeeper Sharif Wedala, who made an important save to turn the effort behind for a corner.

IUEA maintained their advantage into the second half, with Mubiru continuing to trouble the visitors. In the 65th minute, the Bishop Stuart goalkeeper denied him again with a save at the near post.

The hosts eventually doubled their lead in the 85th minute when Miod Aksam finished at the far post.

Bishop Stuart responded quickly, reducing the deficit in the 89th minute through Sabiiti Vianey, who headed home Gilbert Ahumuza’s cross.

However, the late goal was not enough to rescue a point as IUEA held on to claim all three points.

The victory gives IUEA a positive result in their Matchday fixture, while Bishop Stuart will be disappointed not to have taken advantage of their late response.
