Hashtag United Women have mutually terminated Kelci-Rose Bowers' contract just two months after the defender arrived from Bournemouth.
The 22-year-old made headlines during the World Cup semi-final when she cheered for Argentina against England while her partner Marcos Senesi played for the Albiceleste.
A club statement confirmed the move had not worked out and wished Bowers well in her next chapter at another FA Women's National League club.
Bowers joined the Essex outfit in the summer following Senesi's transfer to Tottenham from Bournemouth on a free transfer.
She failed to make an impact at the Premier Division strugglers, prompting the early exit after only a handful of appearances.
The former England youth international previously won the Division One South West title, National League Plate and National League Cup with Bournemouth.
Bowers came through the academies at Chelsea and Southampton before a stint at Louisiana State University in the United States.
She met Senesi during her time with the Cherries and the pair became one of the women's game's prominent power couples.
The argument doing the rounds is whether the World Cup spotlight accelerated a footballing decision that was already inevitable given her slow start on the pitch.
Hashtag United Women will now look to reinforce their backline as they battle to climb the National League Premier Division table.
